We were looking for a quick bite between tours and came across this place. This is a true hidden gem. As we were passing the restaurant, everyone sitting near the window had these gigantic sandwiches that looked amazing. Since we knew we wouldn’t be able to eat these giant sandwiches, we kept it simple and ordered a kid’s grilled cheese to go. This was one of the best grilled cheese sandwiches in my life. I’m not someone who appreciates over the top grilled cheese sandwiches so this was simple perfection and I will be back for more. I wish I would’ve grabbed a sandwich to go before leaving Galena. I’m telling all my friends to come here!
What a beautiful town! BIg Bills Sandwich Shop and coffee is a SUCH cute spot to have lunch! We were seated by the window and we could see the beautiful scenery. We were seated quickly and our drink orders were taken RIGHT AWAY. Great menu selection. We ordered a chicken wrap and a mozzarella sandwich with spinach and roasted red peppers, both served with homemade chips. SO GOOD!! Highly recommend.
Yum-E! Sandwich was great, servers were all very friendly. We weren't starving so we paid the upcharge to share a ham and cheese sandwich and we each had a heart serving of their homemade chips. These chips were better than other chips we've had. They were fresh and many were puffy.
I was in Galena for the first time and was recommended by one of the locals to go to Big Bill’s. I must say, they didn’t disappoint at all! I had my best ever Chai Tea Latte there and the lady serving my drink was so sweet. My mom wanted something too but wasn’t there so I ordered her something and a different lady got me the drink and she made me feel so welcomed to the town and mad sure I was doing okay! I didn’t catch anyone’s names, but they were so nice regardless. Also, the atmosphere was that of a small town cafe where everyone knows everyone. It was very homely and nice compared to other coffee places I go to. Overall amazing and would come back when I get the chance.
If you want a great breakfast then make this your first stop. Only served before 11. The waitress was sooo sweet. She made me a breve coffee even though it wasn’t on their menu. So good we went back the next day. Food was spot on. They don’t have it on the menu but they offered biscuits and gravy and are we glad we tried it. They were the best we’ve ever had. The biscuits are homemade. I think I even tasted a little bit of rosemary. More gourmet than standard. My Bills Benedict was with perfectly poached eggs and served with hash browns. You wouldn’t go wrong with anything on the menu. We ordered 3 meals between the two of us because we wanted it all. Great portions and great service.
So good! The food was delicious. I feel like we waited a little while to get served despite the restaurant not appearing all that busy when we were there. But once our order was taken, our food arrived quickly and our server was responsive. The omelette hit the spot! And the hash browns were nice and crispy.
9/17/23 Came here for lunch and had Carol as our waitress. She was fantastic. Also met met Michelle the owner and photographer, she takes amazing photos displayed right in the restaurant. The Thai chicken salad and the roast beef were really good. Travel photographer for Galena
We decided to order sandwiches to bring back to our lodging from Big Bill’s. We enjoyed everything about our experience. The ambiance in the restaurant was very nice. We sat and had a cup of tea while we waited and decided we would come back again and eat in the restaurant. Our service was perfect—friendly and quick. We saved our sandwiches for dinner and they were absolutely delicious. My wife had the roast beef and cheese and I had the Roman. We had asked for the sauces on the side. It really was perfect. I highly recommend this restaurant.
